So I read RACHEL'S HOLIDAY and this sequel back-to-back。 Written about twenty-years apart, it was fascinating to see how Marian Keyes has grown as a writer。 The original has a serious premise and was played for laughs - very much in a Sophie Kinsella way。This one eschews the overt comedy, yet has plenty of laughs on the pages, whilst managing to cover the material in an entirely grown-up way。 AGAIN, RACHEL is all about the adulting of life。 The tough stuff。 Exquisitely written, timelines flawles So I read RACHEL'S HOLIDAY and this sequel back-to-back。 Written about twenty-years apart, it was fascinating to see how Marian Keyes has grown as a writer。 The original has a serious premise and was played for laughs - very much in a Sophie Kinsella way。This one eschews the overt comedy, yet has plenty of laughs on the pages, whilst managing to cover the material in an entirely grown-up way。 AGAIN, RACHEL is all about the adulting of life。 The tough stuff。 Exquisitely written, timelines flawlessly handled。 Proper page turner。 Great characters。 Loved it。 。。。more

Very long and some funny dialogue from wildly improbably characters - dont know that this always mixed well with deeply personal issues associated with losing a baby。 Far too long for the story。

This is my first book in this series but I feel there was enough back story given by the author that I could easily follow along and enjoy! I loved reading this book and seeing how far the MC has come in her life! Being in the same age category, I enjoyed the MCs experiences and appreciated the we don’t necessarily have it all together (LOL)。 I fully enjoyed the author’s writing style and enjoyed this book。 I plan on going back to other books in this series, especially the one specific for Rache This is my first book in this series but I feel there was enough back story given by the author that I could easily follow along and enjoy! Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the opportunity to read this book ahead of the publishing date。 I've long been a fan of Marian Keyes' novels。 In fact, I read Rachel's Holiday back when it was published in the nineties。 Imagine my delight when I discovered there was to be a follow up twenty-something years later。 I had to drop everything and start the ARC the second I downloaded it to my eReader。Rachel Walsh is now in her forties and she's come a very long way from the Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the opportunity to read this book ahead of the publishing date。 I've long been a fan of Marian Keyes' novels。 In fact, I read Rachel's Holiday back when it was published in the nineties。 Imagine my delight when I discovered there was to be a follow up twenty-something years later。 I had to drop everything and start the ARC the second I downloaded it to my eReader。Rachel Walsh is now in her forties and she's come a very long way from the first book when she was battling addiction and her young life was completely out of control。 In Again, Rachel our leading lady is now a counsellor at the same rehab facility that saved her life all those years ago。 Her clients at the facility each have their own tragic stories which add thought-provoking moments to the story。Rachel's life is in a good spot right now。 She has a job she loves, a dog she adores, a nice house, and she's managed her sobriety quite well, with gardening and new sneakers being her only addictions。 Her sisters and parents continue to keep her on her toes--the Walsh Family are a delightful cast of characters who appear in a number of Keyes' books--and she's in a pretty solid relationship with a nice, successful man who treats her well。 So why then can't she tell him she's in love with him? What's holding her back?On the surface her life seems close to perfect, if a little predictable。 Then one day Luke, her first love and ex-husband, returns to their hometown in Ireland for his mother's funeral。 Seeing him again after many years opens old wounds, past traumas, and unresolved trust issues with each other。 Rachel's steady life begins slowly unravelling the moment Luke walks back into it。 Yet they've both grown immensely by being apart, and each brings fresh perspectives to the difficulties that so tragically ended their marriage。While this all seems quite dramatic, the best thing about Marian Keyes' novels is that she knows how to perfectly mix it up with key moments of heart and hilarity。 Even the most unlikable characters are given the room to grow and succeed。 I could barely put this book down and was sad when it ended。 I adored Rachel and Luke, and rooted hard for them throughout the story。 Also, I was happy to spend time with the entire Walsh Family again。 So entertaining! There's laugh out loud moments and a few tearful ones too。 I barely remembered the first book, having read it so long ago, so I don't think it matters if you haven't read it。 The story catches you up completely and works well as a stand alone novel。 Publishing date is April 5/22。 。。。more

Not as great as I wanted it to be! Took a long time to get into then far too long at the end。

Absolutely a fabulous read。 What a brilliant idea to revisit Rachel Walsh and her family 20 years later。 I found this sweet, funny, sexy and tear producing。 I'm happy I re-read the previous Walsh sisters stories prior to starting Again, Rachel。 Brava, Marian Keyes!!! There is something that is so nostalgic for me with Marian Keyes writing。 I think it is because I read them at such a pivotal time in my early adulthood but reading her books always feels like a visit with an old friend。 After loving Rachel's Holiday so much, I couldn't wait to start this new release。 Just like always, Keyes writing is witty and heartwarming and the main characters are endearing and real。 I loved how Again Rachel caught us up with the wild Wash family and all their shenanigans, There is something that is so nostalgic for me with Marian Keyes writing。 I think it is because I read them at such a pivotal time in my early adulthood but reading her books always feels like a visit with an old friend。 After loving Rachel's Holiday so much, I couldn't wait to start this new release。 Just like always, Keyes writing is witty and heartwarming and the main characters are endearing and real。 I loved how Again Rachel caught us up with the wild Wash family and all their shenanigans, but also with enough substance to keep this somewhat rooted in reality。 This was such a fun read and I love the trip down memory lane。 Thank you to Doubleday CA for my gifted review copy。 。。。more

I think 3/5 will be my temporary rating。 This book was given to us by the book club I'm part of and it was only during the discussion when I found out that this was actually a sequel to Rachel's Holiday。 It was a difficult read for me, but only because there were so many characters at play and a couple of references from - I'm assuming - the previous book。 The good thing was, it was written in a way that I could still somehow get a glimpse and understand Rachel's "previous" story。There were so m I think 3/5 will be my temporary rating。 This book was given to us by the book club I'm part of and it was only during the discussion when I found out that this was actually a sequel to Rachel's Holiday。 It was a difficult read for me, but only because there were so many characters at play and a couple of references from - I'm assuming - the previous book。 The good thing was, it was written in a way that I could still somehow get a glimpse and understand Rachel's "previous" story。There were so many things that were tackled in this story, all kinds of addiction, grief, love, new love, moving on, pregnancy etc but still managed to insert a little bit of humor into it。 I did feel overwhelmed after the book though。 I think I need a break before I read Rachel's holiday, 。。。more

26% of the way in and I have feelings。 I cannot get over how real and wonderful this story is。 Rachel Walsh’s life is drastically different from when she was first introduced to readers of the Walsh Family series。 Now, she’s clean and sober, approaching 50, loves her job as head counselor at The Cloisters, she’s close to her family, she’s in a healthy relationship, but when one of her former in-law’s dies and she sees her former love, her life is thrown into disarray。 I unequivocally loved this 26% of the way in and I have feelings。 I cannot get over how real and wonderful this story is。 Rachel Walsh’s life is drastically different from when she was first introduced to readers of the Walsh Family series。 Now, she’s clean and sober, approaching 50, loves her job as head counselor at The Cloisters, she’s close to her family, she’s in a healthy relationship, but when one of her former in-law’s dies and she sees her former love, her life is thrown into disarray。 I unequivocally loved this novel and I’m a little ashamed to admit that this was my first Marian Keyes novel , but that will be changing (and quickly), as I cannot wait to lose myself in this series。 😍* Well, since originally writing this review, I started the Walsh series, and I’m really, really enjoying what I’ve read so far。 This novel was gorgeous, and I’m so happy that I started reading this series; it’s a wonderful family to visit with。 eARC kindly provided by Penguin Random House Canada / Doubleday Canada and NetGalley。 Opinions shared are my own。 。。。more

Marian Keyes is my favourite and I love all her books, especially those about the Walsh family。 Again, Rachel is a wonderful story, a chance to catch up with the family you become so invested in as a reader。 I loved it, cried several times and just sad to be finished it! Will definitely read again。

Again, Rachel holds its own against the brilliant Rachel’s Holiday - no mean feat。 I loved being part of Rachel’s life again & seeing how she & the rest of the Walshes were going so many years later。 Marian Keyes writes Rachel & Luke’s stories with so much love & care & really did the characters justice。 The way Rachel’s story unfolded was done skillfully & the themes of grief, addiction & loss had me weeping。 My only quibbles: not enough Mammy Walsh & I couldn’t work out who Garv was…wasn’t he Again, Rachel holds its own against the brilliant Rachel’s Holiday - no mean feat。 I loved being part of Rachel’s life again & seeing how she & the rest of the Walshes were going so many years later。 Marian Keyes writes Rachel & Luke’s stories with so much love & care & really did the characters justice。 The way Rachel’s story unfolded was done skillfully & the themes of grief, addiction & loss had me weeping。 My only quibbles: not enough Mammy Walsh & I couldn’t work out who Garv was…wasn’t he always known as Paul? 。。。more

Marian Keyes brings Rachel back to life 20+ years on。 I remember reading Rachel’s Holiday shortly after it came out when I was 19/20yr old and Marians writing of a grown up matured Rachel did not disappoint。Highly recommend - you laugh, you cry, and you want to be a Walsh sister!

I enjoyed it but could have done without the chapters in The Cloisters。 I was more interested in Rachel’s personal story。

My favourite MK book ever! Maybe it helped that I re-read Rachel’s Holiday before diving in to this book but I bloody loved being with all the Walsh’s again。 I laughed, I cried, my heart was in my throat。 Sequels sometimes suck but this is the opposite。 Absolutely glorious!
